My name is Kevin Hawley, and I’ve lived in Catawba County my whole life. As a spirit-filled Christian, my faith shapes my political views. I graduated from Fred T. Foard High School, earned an associate’s degree in graphic design from Catawba Valley Community College, and went on to Appalachian State University for a bachelor’s in communications and a master’s in higher education.

During my undergrad years at App State, I was active in Housing and Residence Life, where I was named Programmer of the Year, and helped found the Diversity Advocates. I also worked with the Department of Education Leadership Program and held leadership roles in both the Higher Education Student Association (HESA) and the Executive Impact Club as a grad student. Currently, I work with special needs adults to help them reach goals for independent living skills, and I serve as Secretary of the Catawba County Democratic Party.

My life verse is Ephesians 4:32, which says "be kind and compassionate one to another, forgiving one another as God through Christ Jesus forgave you."  I believe we are all children of God; therefore, everyone deserves the same love, respect, and validation, regardless of our differences.
